THE GERMAN REFUGEES
In this programme, students explore the period from 1945 to 1949, when more than 250,000 German refugees were housed in refugee camps in Denmark. Using articles from the period, students will investigate and, through role-play, debate Danish attitudes towards the German refugees and the refugee camps. They will work critically with historical sources and try to understand the attitudes and viewpoints of the time.
History: Students can purposefully read historical sources and express themselves orally and in writing, using nuanced language, about historical issues.
Social Studies: Students can form opinions and take action in relation to social and cultural contexts and issues.
Target group: Grades 7–10.
Duration: 90 minutes.

MIGRATION
Migration takes many forms – labour migration, migration for love, flight, adventure and forced migration. But what drives people to leave their own country? Through a range of individual stories, students explore different groups of labour migrants and refugees while considering what they themselves would do if they found themselves in similar situations. The programme is adapted to the age of the target group and to the topic being studied at school.
History: Based on a chronological overview, students can explain how societies have developed under different circumstances.
Target group: Grades 7–9.
Duration: 60–90 minutes, depending on the agreement with the school.
